Why continuously measure plastic granules?
In conventional quality control, individual samples are often taken from the production process and measured afterwards. These samples provide important information – but they only ever represent a specific point in time.
This is where continuous colour measurement comes in.
The system presented by ColorLite at Fakuma measures plastic granules close to the production process in a specially designed granule measurement chamber. Measurement and evaluation are automated. The resulting measurement data is visualised in real time and is immediately available for quality control.
This makes it possible to track colour changes throughout the ongoing process instead of relying solely on comparisons between individual samples.
Detect colour deviations earlier

Continuous colour measurement of plastic granules with the ColorLite sph ipm – measurement data is recorded and evaluated directly in the process.
Material and batch variations can have a significant influence on the colour quality of plastic granules. A high measurement frequency therefore provides a much broader data basis for assessing the ongoing process.
The advantage: colour changes become visible at an early stage and can be evaluated before the next sample would normally be tested. At the same time, there is no need for time-consuming sample preparation.
