A student internship is the first real contact with the world of work for many young people. At ColorLite, the 17-year-old student intern Julius Hippe had the opportunity to get to know the everyday life of a manufacturing industrial company comprehensively as part of his four-week student internship. Julius is currently visiting the 11th Class of the one-year vocational school economy with a focus on trade at the BBS I in Osterode and used the internship specifically to check his career aspirations industrial clerk in a practical manner.

Four weeks student internship at ColorLite

From the beginning, it was important to us at ColorLite not to limit the student internship to individual activities or a permanent job. Instead, we accompanied Julius through various divisions of the company to give him a realistic picture of how the processes in an industrial company are organized and interlock.

Insights into all central divisions

During his four-week internship at ColorLite, Julius got to know all the central divisions of the company. In addition to sales and production, this also included development, administration and marketing. This illustrated how closely clean organization, structured technical processes and commercial planning are connected in a manufacturing industrial company.

This cross-sectoral perspective is an important part of the student internship, as it shows that industrial processes do not function in isolation, but are based on coordinated processes and clear interfaces.

Production, vertical integration and industrial processes

As a German industrial company with a high level of vertical integration, ColorLite combines many steps of creating value in-house. This was particularly evident for Julius in production. As part of the inventory, he gained insights into material stocks, assemblies and structured inventory management. Thus, it became clear how structured processes ensure quality and delivery reliability and at the same time form the basis for economic planning and control.

Work culture and orientation for career choice

In addition to the technical aspects, daily cooperation also played an important role. At ColorLite, we value short distances, open communication and a collegial working environment. Questions are expressly welcome, and clear contact persons make it easier for young people in particular to get started with everyday work.

The combination of professional insights and working atmosphere has also left a lasting impression on Julius:

“I knew before that the profession of industrial clerk was interesting to me. But here I realized how versatile everyday life really is. I thought it was particularly good that you are taken seriously and get insights everywhere.”

A student internship should provide guidance. Through the comprehensive insights into all central divisions, Julius was not only able to further consolidate his career, but also understand how complex and networked the processes in a manufacturing industrial company are.

For us, promoting young talent at ColorLite is not a mandatory program, but part of our self-image. With student internships, we want to provide realistic insights and support young people in their professional orientation. At the same time, we see this commitment as a component of sustainable, responsible business. We wish Julius all the best and much success for his further professional path.
