Sample how to measure cables and cylindrical surfaces

What do I need to know?

For measuring cables and cylindrical samples an aid is needed to position the probe head. ColorLite offers an optional v-block probe head version for these types of applications. The same probe head can be used for normal flat surfaces.

Cables with a small diameter can be wrapped around a small plastic rod to provide a larger area, which can then be easily measured with the v-block probe head.
It is important to note that the diameter of the cable affects the results. This means standards must be defined for different diameters.

It can be practical to determine a standard by measuring a “light” and “dark” sample and using the average CIEL*a*b*-values. Our Database software ColorDaTra has a function to support this method.
